Wild collection certification is required whenever wild products are to be marketed as organic. Any area from which a wild crop that is intended to be sold, labelled, or represented as organic is harvested must have had no prohibited substances applied to it for a period of three years immediately preceding the harvest of the wild crop. A wild crop must be harvested in a manner to ensure that such harvesting or gathering will not be destructive to the environment and will sustain the growth and production of the wild crop. The certified operation or the operation seeking certification shall maintain records pertaining to the activities carried out and shall adhere to standard requirements.
